C.S. Lewis point on Christian Books.

"We don't need more people writing 'Christian books,' what we need is more Christians writing good books."  C.S. Lewis.

I quoted this today to Blonde #2, we hung out today for a few hours.  It is always nice seeing her.  She is one of my closest friends.  We were talking about weather or not something is Biblical.  It is an interesting concept.  One side of the arguement.  Is anything taken into context from the Bible "Biblical"  or once taken from the Bible does it loose the "Biblical" sense.  Let's take a look at John Chapter 12:40 which in turn quotes Isa. 6:9.

"He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them." John 12:40 KJV

Now some Christians believe in only one translation the KJV should be used. But other translations are very close like in example.

"The Lord has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that their eyes cannot see, and their hearts cannot understand and they cannot turn to me and have me heal them." John 12:40 NLT

If anything this translation makes it slightly easier to read in this generation. Now "The Message" goes one step further and takes out the verse numbers and put's it into layman's terms.\

"Their eyes are blinded, their hearts are hardened, so that they won't see with their eyes and perceive with their hearts, and turn to me, God, so I could heal them."

But again basically the same message.  So the Gospel, Which means "good news" in the Greek, is kept pretty well intact from version to version, with a few changes here and there, but the Almighty God, keeps His message clear and precise in each version that I have looked at.

But are they all Biblical.  Yes I believe they are.  But what about if we take this too the street.  What if we say to someone, "Open your eyes man, open your heart. God wants to heal you but you have to open up."  Is it still Biblical?  Yes it is.  But lets go one step further.  What if we said something like.

"Dude you have to open your heart man, otherwise you can't heal."  Is this Biblical.  It seems to match up to what the Bible tells us.........

And that I leave to you to decide.  Where does following God in our word stop or does it?
