What a wonderful day. Had an very powerful sermon this morning at church. Pastor Jim gave a wonderful message on the Father not forsaking Jesus on the cross. It crossed into psalms 22. It is interesting to understand the culture of the Jews at the time of Christ. In the time of Christ, Jewish children studied and memorized the first 5 books of the Bible and psalms and proverbs. When a Rabbi would want to quote a psalm he would say the first line and inside the mind the rest of the psalm would be recited. A great example of this would be "Twinkle Twinkle little Star....." you know the rest it just came to mind.
Well if you take a the Biblical account of the crucification Jesus says in Matthew 27:46 "My God, My God why have you forsaken me?"
I have read this multiple times without ever putting the connection together. Psalms 22 starts the same way "My God, my God why have you forsaken me?" It must have started a revelation to those watching as the psalm played though their heads. The details written generations before were unfolding around them. They watched as the psalm came true.
Did some on that fateful day finally see Christ for who He was, and who He is?
My Lamb, thank you so much for taking my pain.
